I apologize to the list for this thread. I did not see that I was posting to the list until after I punched the "send" button. I meant to reply to Patrick only, but was distracted. Larry, the whole aviation community feels similarly. But I am not telling you anything you don't already know. Even insurance has gone through the roof, especially since Sept. 11. It is a shame that we can miss uses a product or do something really stupid and then sue the manufacturer for our own mistake.
I shutter when news footage shows small airplanes that have been destroyed by tornadoes or floods knowing that most often these airplanes will never be replaced by anything affordable to the average person.
The only way most of us can have an airplane is to build one ourselves.

New ones are in the $250,000+ range, well equiped, as I recall. Cessna got hit with a really nasty liability ruling late last summer, so they'll probably go up!
