Sitting in my library tonight I succumbed to the siren song of the first clear night skies in days so I opened the observatory and shot some pictures of a couple of targets of opportunity.
I was out last night as well with first 'real' light for a new Zhumell 8" dob (I took a quick peak at Venus a few nights ago during a break in the clouds). I was pleased with how the scope performed (I hope to write up a full review sometime soon, pretty good bang for the buck thus far), though I couldn't seem to get stars down to pinpoints, just small blobs. Could that be caused by the Jetstream turbulence you mention? I chalked it up to needing to collimate better (or needing a better collimator), but it would be encouraging to know that it was potentially just bad seeing.
