Dave, I never did see the comet, which is still reportedly not yet a naked-eye object. The fuel dump object I did see has long since dissipated. I've read a couple reports from people in AZ who also saw it, however. I called Patrick early this morning and even though he had a cloud band in the way, he reported seeing it through the high cirrus. On Tue, Nov 24, 2015 at 7:36 AM, Dave Gary <davegary@me.com> wrote:
Chuck,
Thanks for the heads-up. I will take a look tomorrow morning (weather permitting). Missed it this morning. I didn’t think it would be high enough to see just yet. I will try to get a photograph this weekend if at all possible.

If anyone is up this early, it appears that comet Catalina has experienced a sudden, massive brightening.
I am observing a coma as large as the full moon, and bright enough to punch through the urban light pollution. It is very obvious in the eastern sky, to the lower left of Venus & Spica.
Any other reports are appreciated. _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy
