A SLASer just emailed me and said that BIG 5 has the Barska 15x70mm binocular on-sale again, but I cannot verify this. Has anyone seen the current BIG 5 ad? Also, some months ago there was concern expressed on the list that the Barska's were not up to the quality of the Oberwerks, Galileos, Celestrons, etc. Folks, I've owned them all, and they are in fact identical. The FOV is printed right on the prism housings of all models and it is the same, among ALL these 15x70mm units. The only obvious differences are in coatings and cosmetics. Personally, I have never been able to tell the difference, visually, between a multi-coated & single-layer coated model, even side-by-side. Yes, the others sell for more, but don't be decived into thinking that price alone is a hallmark of high quality. The fact is that the Barskas are the cheapest because Barska orders more from the factory than the other brands. Quantity will always get you a discount with any manufacturer.
