I independantly "discovered" Nova Cygni 1975: http://www.daviddarling.info/encyclopedia/N/Nova_Cygni_1975.html I was 16 years old at the time, and was with several SLASers on Little Mountain a day after or the same day it rose to naked-eye visibility, and kept telling the adults that there was a 2nd magnitutde star in Cygnus that didn't belong there. I watched the sky nightly back then so I think I caught it as soon as it was more than a photographically-detectable-only object. Apparently none of them knew their constellations because I got nothing but laughter and jokes that night, from everyone in attendance. Some of you on this list were there, I believe, so you will remain nameless. For now... Talk about the one that got away...listen to your children, people!!
