While I was building my mount, I had in the back of my mind exactly what Rich suggests. The only thing I had to go on was a site with pictures and limited text, but even that was a great help. I'd enjoy putting together a step by step guide or what I would refer to as the madness to my method; I'd need a collaborator with a digital camera though to make it really cool. Certainly worth some thought and consideration. The most exotic tool I used when building my mount was a table saw to rip a couple of boards to size; and I don't own one, I have a neighbor who does. My success is measured in part by the fact that I started with ten fingers and I still have them all! I have to think that most of us out there without the big tools have a friend or two that do. Let's keep this discussion open and when Chuck's Oberworks show up, a bino-party seems like the ticket. I'd like to put a dent in that list of binocular objects... Joe Borgione -------------------
This sounds like a great idea; it would be wonderful to have a few of the experts like Ron and Chuck and others on hand to take a critical look at some of the sets that show up. I would like to expand the bino resource page I started into an ongoing, online collection of bino and mount reviews that newcomers and any interested parties can read and consequently make good purchasing decisions by.
Likewise I'd also like to put together a list of some success stories and step-by-step plans of some of you creative and talented craftsmen in making good parallelogram and observing chair mounts (following up Glen Warchol's inspiration with the crutch mount, etc.), replete with pictures and detailed parts lists if possible for the rest of us tool (and pocketbook)challenged, starry-eyed hopefuls.

Hey Joe:
I'd like to have a look at those Oberwerk binos and toss a couple of rounds in a 'shoot out'.
Great! We'll do it soon. You're making the coffee.
What the heck good is fun money if we don't have fun with it?!
Not a problem, really, I'm just going to skip my medication for a couple months! :>O
