Hi Jim, I thought you were in St. George! Let's make sure we make a special attempt at July's young moon from Wolf Creek. The horizon to the West is great up there. Dave On Saturday, March 20, 2004, at 09:47 AM, Jim Gibson wrote:
Dave I think you are right. The very next month I was at the Wedge trying to see the new moon ant that was in October. Our view of the cresent must have been at Wolf Creek in September. OK, That was 30 hours old then. Jim

Jim, Do you remember what month that was? I'm thinking September as I have photos saved from the 26th. New Moon was on the 25th. If that's the day, we were seeing one more like 30 hours old. This Sunday night's will be about 34 hours old...in April we get a chance to see an 18 hour old moon which would beat my personal unaided eye record of 19. July, Sept, and Nov also look good for 16-20 hour moons. Dave

I did Chuck. I find it very fascination ever since Dave Bennett showed me a 22 - 24 hour old young crescent last summer at Wolf Creek.

Thanks for the forecast, Jim. BTW, did you catch the recent articles in S&T on observing young crescent moons?

Chuck I check with our MET folks to see if there were any chages and they said no. This thing that is passing through now will be short lived. They assured me that it will be clear and worm - hot for St. George. There could be some high serous clouds in a few places but they should dissapate after dark. Jim
