Bruce: What I'm looking for is a tone that is less serious than CSPAN but not fully over the top like The Onion. You may not know that the recent angry exit by Chuck Hards has happened at least 5 times in the last 10 years that I've been on this list. No one takes it seriously any more nor should they. I was driven away from TV by O.J Simpson and I stayed away for 12 years. But now I watch it with my sense of humor engaged. Joe: Once again. Replying to your emails or even mentioning your august name does NOT constitute a personal attack. Humor is the goal hear and you are big enough to take it. I've sure seen you dish it out. Patrick: As for Astronomy Magazine; print media is fading away. No one SHOULD take them seriously any more. Most people don't anyway, just because it's made of dead trees. Telling people to not bother looking assumes you know what they are expecting. Even you may be wrong about this some time. You were about comet McNaught and comet Holmes. Gotta to vent Though not at "vent" level, I would have to agree the manipulation of facts by the media in the pursuit of the all mighty dollar is saddening and dilutes the trust we have in all forms of media. This attack on our trust and our belief in serious reporting of facts (no manipulation, no exaggeration) is part of the reason I've not had network television since the year 2000. Yup. 13 years. No TV. Instead, I (we) go into the night to gather our own facts from the small twinkles of light. :-) Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure Science. - Edwin Powell Hubble _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Send messages to the list to Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com The Utah-Astronomy mailing list is not affiliated with any astronomy club.
