Man what a great show that was! The clouds were actually a relief I was getting tired of taking so many pictures, but the movie I took of the clouds rolling over the Sun and Mercury was pretty cool. Plus the atmosphere became extremely turbulent after the cluds so there was no sense in continuing. I ended up being able to use the 10" LX-50 SCT with a full aperature filter, great view! Now I have to get to work, I'm late but man was it worth it! The last transit of mercury I was sick as a dog and I barely remember seeing anything, I went to a friends house and he used a 4.5" reflector to project the solar disk onto his dining room ceiling, but we both had the flu so bad it was not an enjoyable experience. The clouds have arrived, 3:20 pm, North Salt Lake.
An excellent transit, the 3/5ths that I saw. Considering the weather forecasts the past few days, I feel fortunate to have seen what I did.
