Thanks, Jay. He certainly has a great setup. Besides the Dobsonian, he made the binos holder in the pic. -- Joe ________________________________ From: Jay Eads <jayleads@gmail.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Saturday, October 1, 2011 7:16 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Mat at his Dobsonian Joe, Mat told me about this picture last night and I was excited to see it. I truly appreciate your creativity and willingness to share your work. I can't wait for the 20th of this month when the moon is low enough to head back out. Well, I may do some double stars and lunar observing in the backyard. Jay On Sat, Oct 1, 2011 at 7:02 PM, Joe Bauman <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> wrote:
Here's a pic I took the other day of Mat Hutchings at his 16-inch Dob (he made all of this impressive instrument himself, including grinding the mirror). The fuzzy orbs aren't UFOs, they are because of dust in the air or on the lens; the dark figure behind Mat isn't a ghost, but where Mat stood back a bit from the scope after the flash went off, and blocked some of the starlight. The pic was a 30-second exposure at ISO 1600, with flash.
