I've really enjoyed all the images I've seen posted here; great job all! I got some images also, but being just handheld shots with either eyepiece projection or DSLR with telephoto, they are not nearly as nice as those I've seen from you on this list. During the eclipse I thought it would be fun to view a few DSO's with my 8" f5.7 dobsonian. Among them, I saw M104, M51, 2 of the "Leo Trio", and M13. Pretty cool that I saw them from my driveway under a "full moon"! I also enjoyed an occultation of a star by the moon that occurred around 01:40 (sorry didn't get the exact timing). It was close to being centered on the moon's limb and looked like a poor star being eaten by a red, ravenous beast. Fun times! I shot hundreds of stills as well as some video. Here's just one, not the best but I'm too tired to process more right now. Orion 100mm ED f/9 refractor, Pentax K-30 at prime focus. http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii24/JethroTull1958/EclipseApril2014002_z... What a terrific eclipse. Not the darkest I've ever seen, but a nice shade of orange. More ruddy than nearby Mars. Good night! _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Send messages to the list to Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com The Utah-Astronomy mailing list is not affiliated with any astronomy club.
