He swore it was a 13", until we held a tape measure across the tube. He then spent some time looking through his records for his sales receipt- which he didn't find while I was there. There is a reinforcing ring on the mirror's center for collimation purposes. That said, it was in pretty good shape. The base had a few nicks, the tube was in excellent condition. It had that infuriating stock "focuser", but the images of the hillside and details on power lines several blocks away were satisfyingly crisp. Having rebuilt a pair of Odyssey Compacts a few years ago for a local elementary school, I am familiar with them inside-out, and can say that Rich is right. These are the perfect star-party scopes. Turns out the guy was probably measuring the O.D. of the tube, not the mirror as it's really a 10" Coulter, not a 13.1", according to Chuck who went and had a look at it today.
It's available if anyone wants it, and you might be able to talk him down from $500. These are great star party scopes, solid as a rock and you won't shed any tears if some kid leaves his fingerprints on the (sono)tube... ;o)
