You might check a sporting good store that sells hard cases to ship golf clubs in. Also, a few years ago I made a hard case for my 4 inch scope using plastic pipe (I can't remember if it's for gas or water), and gray foam like you get in camera/lens cases. You can purchase that foam from a place about 28th South and 5th West. If you want more details, I could scout out the names of the businesses. I can't remember them now. My case is very strong and works great. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Canopus56" <canopus56@yahoo.com> To: "Utah Astronomy List Serv" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 08, 2005 2:49 PM Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Local material sources for a hardcase for an AtlasEQ-G mount
Does anyone have recommendations for local SLC sources for materials to make a hardcase for a large, I believe it's called an HD-5 type, mount?
I recently acquired an Atlas EQ-G mount. It weighs about 55lbs. It's about 24" on a side to store. I would like to put it into a hardcase, instead of a soft-pack, preferrably one with wheels.
I was planning to go to Lowe's tonight to look for a plastic storage box with wheels on it, but I am stumped on where to get that much pull foam to line the box.
Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks - Canopus56
