It's not a seasonal thing with me, Debbie. I like meat about twice a week, in the form of fish or fowl mostly. I rarely eat red meat, maybe a steak once or twice a year and a burger twice a year. Watching my cholesterol. Managed to lower it 180 points without medication. Any food creates "heat" when metabolized; a calorie is a unit of heat, energy more properly- the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of one cc of water one degree C. Food calories are really kilocalories, IIRC. The more concentrated the food value, the more energy it contains. Protein is a very concentrated food. --- astrodeb@charter.net wrote:
Is it better to cut down on meat in the summer? I don't like very much meat in the hot summer months. I've heard meat creates heat in the body. Is this true? I'm by no means a vegan but believe eating meat in smaller amounts is better for the digestive tract.
