It's not an immediate solution, but I believe you can find a replacement hand controller on eBay for very little money, the market seems saturated with them.
I bought a couple of the smaller Celestron GoTo mounts on eBay last year, complete with hand controller, for pennies on the dollar. They work well, and the controller seems identical to the one on my own CGEM.
