Technically you have to pay a $25 7-day pass to the entire park, but the entrance is not gated; there is a visitor's center there that you are supposed to stop at and purchase your pass.

I have never had to pay a fee in the 2 years I've been going to this site. There is no camping there but nobody is going to bother you if you sleep in your car. I've never stayed the whole night up there because it is a short 40 miles home. I'll give a report if I go up there in about a week. I have to get some fishing in before I turn into an astronomer. There is also a pit toilet but I bring my own TP just in case.
