Tom, any similarity between PanHOUTEK and West is... Well, vague, at best. That said, I know what you're implying. Hale-Bopp gave me the same feeling. It was in the same part of the sky as West, had a similar morphology, even though it was only a third or perhaps half the apparent size of West. I almost forgot to mention that at 1:47 into the PanSTARRS video, there's a still photo of the comet that looks similar to Comet West. I'm going to go through my negatives and see if I can't find the picture I took of West at sunrise. Should be an interesting comparison.
