Has anyone seen a [reliable?] weather forecast for Sunday AM's return of Stardust? I'd hate to make the trek from Sanpete if the weather will be rotten.
I use - 1) the NOAA Conus skycover loop in this applet (choose "skycover" instead of "temperature" in the option pull-down): http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/graphical/sectors/conusLoop.php 2) the NOAA 24-hour satellite loop - http://www.weather.gov/sat_tab.php The NOAA graphical forecast for Monday night looks like "maybe" - http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/graphical/sectors/ The current NOAA forecast - http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/total_forecast/index.php?wfo=slc&zone=utz005&fire=ut... - reads - ====================== Area Forecast For: The Great Salt Lake Desert and Mountains Including Wendover & Snowville Issued: January 13, 2006 04:06:49 MST Today: Partly cloudy. Highs around 40. Tonight: Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 20s. Saturday: Mostly cloudy. Highs in the mid 40s. Saturday night: A chance of rain in the evening...then rain and snow likely after midnight. Cloudy. Accumulations possible. Lows around 30. Northwest winds 10-20 mph. Chance of precipitation 60 percent. Sunday: Breezy. Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of snow. Highs in the upper 30s. Northwest winds 15-25 mph. Sunday night: Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of snow. Lows in the lower 20s. Northwest winds 10-20 mph. Martin luther king jr day: Partly cloudy. Highs in the mid 30s. Monday night: Mostly cloudy. Lows near 20. ====================== The current north track of the major storm front over the "top" of Utah - seen in the NOAA satellite loop is encouraging. The Intellicast Jet Stream forecast map shows the current jet stream holding through Saturday. http://www.intellicast.com/IcastPage/LoadPage.aspx?loc=usa&seg=LocalWeather&... It's a question of whether the jet stream will hold and continue to push the storms north - or break - and let a storm roll through late Saturday night. I'd look at the NOAA skycover and satellite loops and make your own judgment call. Personally, I'm watching the sky and these sites through 8:00 pm Saturday night and then deciding whether to drive. In summary, my guessimate is a fair "maybe" for partly cloudy skies with holes through which the satellite will be visible - and start burning incense to appease the weather gods. -:) - Canopus56(Kurt) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
