Ha! Thanks Dave. I thought the photos looked great. The Paramount is installed and working perfectly, but the corrected newt won't be complete for a few weeks at least. I have the 12.5" Zambuto primary and 4" Antares secondary waiting here at my home. All of the hardware is ordered from Paul van Slyke in Colorado, and should be complete by the end of this week or early next week... if all goes according to plan. He is custom fitting a focuser tube to my 3" Wynne corrector, so the corrector is at his shop right now. I should have all the bits and pieces in my hands soon, except for the tube. The carbon fiber sandwich tube will be the slow part because it is coming from Klaus Helmerichs in Germany and isn't even completed yet. It has two flat sides (top and bottom) and does not require rings. It is a really interesting tube design created especially for larger astrographs. I have a picture of him and two other guys standing on an end-supported long tube and there is no flex. I am hoping it will arrive in the States by mid-November. Once the tube is here, the assembly will be very fast: I am very motivated! ***WARNING*** All of you should get your observing done before my scope is completed because I am certain we are about to enter the longest period of continuously-overcast skies ever recorded in this area... beginning the day before my scope is completed. :) Cheers, Tyler -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Dave Gary Sent: Tuesday, October 30, 2012 12:32 PM To: Utah Astronomy Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Moon: 29 October 2012 ~ 22:00 MDT Thanks, Tyler. When is your new observatory hardware going to be up and running? I can't wait to see some of the coming astrophotos. My goal has always been...."Man, it almost looks as good as Tyler's". It's never happened, but I'm working on it. I may have to tweak the collimation on my scope the next time I wheel it out. Focus seemed to be slightly off and I couldn't adjust it any better. There was a lot of light in my eyes, too. If you can think of any more excuses let me know. I'll use them. Took some photos of Moon. Even labeled a few things. I hope the labels are correct. I was pretty tired when I did it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/78046474@N06/sets/72157631885490301/
