GOOD FOR YOU, Patrick. 'Bout time. I have to admit I did my own amount of posting, but I believe they were mostly in the way of responses. I would not have left the list, because I happen to think just sweeping the dirt under the door never solves anything. I was just going to delete anything I was getting tired of reading, because it has been so divisive to the list. 73, lh On 12/8/2011 6:45 PM, Patrick Wiggins wrote:
Come on folks. What the "frack" (pun intended) does all of the recent fracas have to do with astronomy?
I don't think anyone here has a problem with the occasional off topic post but this is getting ridiculous and it's driving people away.
The stuff about the mine near Bryce was borderline on topic because of possible effects on Bryce skies.
But oil and gas exploration?
Earlier today Steve Fisher (no stranger to debate) left the list and now I've received notice that Kurt has signed off.
We're at over a dozen who have left now. More in a few days than have left in the entire year.
In my years of overseeing this list I've never used my admin powers to censor anyone. I've just gotten really good at deleting the kind of stuff so many are starting to think of as spam. But with this many subscribers (and now two very prominent subscribers) leaving I'm really starting to think that some people are either going to have to stay on topic or find their posts being blocked until one of the moderators sees they are on topic.
