Classic: The 25 mm Kellner that came with my good old Edmund Scientific 3 inch reflector.
Dale, if you're talking about the Edmund #5223, I wholeheartedly agree. I have two incarnations of it, one from about 1966-68 (came with my Edmund 4.25" reflector), and a later version. It's actually listed as 1.1" focal length or somwhere around 28mm. Interestingly, since Edmund used surplus optics in those days, the actual lenses used varied from year-to-year. My oldest one (I use it in my 50mm solar scope mostly) is a true Plossl, with two non-symmetrical achromats. Whereas the later version I use in the finder on my 6" f/8 Newt is a Kellner with only one achromat and one simple lens. The performance seems to be similar though. Like you, I'm glad I kept both of them. I think it was the forerunner to the RKE 28mm. Bruce and I have talked about this eyepiece in the past, and he loves it as much as we do.
