Report on the view of Comet Ikeya-Zhang from the Lakeside road site last night: WOW! This is not a great comet ala Hale-Bopp, but it's a really nice comet. Even while twilight was fading it was a naked-eye (or in my case, a glasses-eyed) object. When the night deepened it was even better. Without using the telescope I could easily see the tail going off at about the 1 o'clock direction. Through my finder scope (which showed the overall view) it was a beautiful blue comet with a long tail. In the telescope it was pretty fuzzy. The sky was nice and dark in the right place. So, barring a dense cloud cover, Cory and I plan to return Thursday night for the comet-galaxy conjunction. -- Joe
