OK, here's part of the explanation since everyone is getting so serious and all. I can't speak for tthe other media, but the Deseret News would have had some coverage if I had realized the date of Astronomy Day. I may have had emails. I'm sure Patrick mentioned it to me but I spaced on it. For a long time I was on special assignment to focus on Bosnia, and I concentrated on that coverage. I guess nothing else penetrated. I had been working so hard on Bosnia that I just did not think about anything else before those articles were printed, and then I had a lot of catch-up to do. When I realized I'd missed Astronomy Day, I believed I had not received an e-mail about it but Ann showed me that I had. So at least as far as this medium (or half-baked?) is concerned, I take the blame for overlooking it. Astronomy is extremely important to me and I think to this newspaper. I would promise to do better next Astronomy Day, but I'll be retired by then. Thanks for your understanding, Joe
Thanks Guy, but I'm not up for a discussion on intra-club politics and the wisdom of expanding SLAS programs
Kurt, only a government employee could come up with something like that from a simple question.
First, that question wasn't posed to you. It's merely an observation put out there to ANYONE who might have a clue as to the reason. With the mention of a Astronomy Day celebration also being held at SPOC, I found it wierd, that there was no news media reporting on that part of the celebration. That's all, nothing more, nothing less.

I wonder why the media didn't bother coming out to SPOC??? That's odd.
Thanks Guy, but I'm not up for a discussion on intra-club politics and the wisdom of expanding SLAS programsI was just out trying to enjoy the weekend and some astronomy after working on Saturday. Please start your own thread if you want to go into that topic.
