This problem worries me. Prudent use of a green laser is an invaluable teaching aid to us in astronomy. People using these as a toy create a perseption that taints public opinion about people in general that own, or use green lasers. Personally, I hope they prosecute this guy to the max to reinforce the intolerance to such action. If these incidents continue, legislation could be enacted that will prohibit the sale of green lasers, even the 5mw variety. If any of us see someone misusing a green laser, it is our duty and obligation to let them know that the action is unacceptable. Otherwise, we may all be out. Just for what it is worth.
