I've been out of the loop since Sunday. My wife had surgery a couple of weeks ago, the site became infected, and we had to go back to the hospital in SLC. She'll be there for a few more days, but all seems to be fine. So, by way of catching up: Jupiter observation report (Sunday AM) Reply to Dale: No, didn't observe the Io shadow transit. The feature I saw was elongated, maybe 10 or 15 degrees, brownish in color, just what I had read to expect in a SEB revival. Wish now I had sketched it. Note to self... Has anyone been able to observe Jupiter since Sunday AM, and if so, how do the GRS and (non-existent) SEB look? Did I see something transient or is the SEB coming back already? I haven't seen anything on the web, so whatever I saw was likely not a revival but something else. Chuck, thanks for the info on Celestron's E-Lux eyepieces. Maybe I'll keep the 40mm, and then again, maybe it's for sale to anyone who wants to offer a reasonable price. It has been a good wide-field eyepiece for my 5" APO, but with the unusable Meade mount I haven't used that telescope for some time. Eyepiece is in mint condition, BTW. Looks like I may not be available for the swap meet if 28th is going to be the date, but I'll sure try to come. Robert, great pic from Arches NP. This is my kind of astrophotography. Can you give details on length of exposure and other settings? Was this a simple tripod shot? Joe, you are truly one of the most persistent persons I've ever known. Have you considered gong back to visual observing, only? ;-) I do read your blogs, but I don't comment online to avoid having to sign-in to Deseret's system. Just another annoyance to me. Tell them to go back to a comments system that doesn't require signing in, and I'm there. Would like to have joined everyone Tuesday, but I was at the hospital until after 8:30. Missing SLAS meetings and other SLAS events is about the only thing I miss about living in SLC. That and regular dining at the Red Iguana. Kim
