Clark Planetarium and the U of U Department of Physics and Astronomy will host an afternoon "Astrofest" on Oct. 20, 2012 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM. This is really a second "Astronomy Day" (as promoted by the Astronomical League), but we didn’t want to create confusion with the public about two Astronomy Days in the same year, hence the name change. Clark Planetarium staff will host science demonstrations, a special presentation on observing techniques with small telescopes in the planetarium's 3rd floor classroom from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and representatives from the U will set up a solar telescope outside on our sidewalk and do science demos in our lobby. The USU "Get Away Special" team will bring demonstrations and ATK will partner with us as well. We’re extending an invitation to SLAS and local amateur astronomers in the event that you’d like to come and participate. SLAS folks, do you want to set up a table and distribute SLAS literature? Thanks, Seth Jarvis, Director Clark Planetarium
