I've tried a combination of different cables, but with no change in function (or lack thereof). Results are always the same. I don't' own a multimeter, but having tried two hand controllers and at least two different power cables and hand control-to-mount cables (telephone type cord), always with the same outcome, I'm not convinced the problem is that simple. I wish it were. You are correct in this assumption. Far and away the biggest culprit in electronic mount errors is in their cables. The CGE I own is proof of

infamous problems with cables. Could even be a bad connector where the handbox plugs into the mount.

Chuck and Kim,
Another debug justification to switch to an entirely different power source - presumably with a new connector cable - is to rule out a fault or short in power connector cables.
