Interesting site. I've been wondering how all the forecasts could be so wrong today. Just looking at the cloud trends you could see a huge cloud mass coming down from the north. The forecast model on weather.com just shows it getting worse. -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Jay Eads Sent: Saturday, October 09, 2010 1:45 PM To: Utah Astronomy Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Saturday night In their discussion of the local forecasts located at http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/forecasts/display_special_product_versions.php?sid=s lc&pil=afdthe NWS : HAVE UPDATED THE SKY FORECASTS OVER NORTHERN AREAS THIS MORNING FOR MORE CLOUDS AND OVER SOUTHERN AREAS FOR LESS CLOUDS. A FEW MINOR TWEAKS WERE MADE FOR THIS AFTERNOON AS WELL. THE REST OF THE FORECAST PACKAGE LOOKS IN GOOD SHAPE FOR TODAY AND TONIGHT AS A DIRTY RIDGE BUILDS IN OVERHEAD. TONIGHT...PARTLY CLOUDY. LOWS IN THE MID 40S. Warning: Humidity is forecasted as HIGH tonight so if you have a dob, no biggie but it impacts the view. SCT or Refractor, have dew heaters going. I'm in a wait and see mode for the next 3 hours to see what the Satellite actually does. Then again, as of Wednesday I'm off for 3 1/2 weeks so plenty of time to observe minus a trip to the Bay Area to visit my mother who was diagnosed recently with cancer. There is a huge cloud mass over Utah right now but it should be gone in the next few hours, looking at the satellite animation.

I have heard rumors of clear skies this weekend.
It's looking like the weather gods will smile on us Saturday night!
