I had a terrific night visually. Saw and sketched around 15 Herschels and then saw an additional 20 objects over the night, sketching about 4 of them in detail. My favorite of the night was NGC 7331 and Stephen's Quintet. Both Dave and I counted 4 of the galaxies easily (which means we probably saw all 5 since two are really close in their merger I believe but someone can correct me). I really enjoyed everyone. I also learned what a hard time you imagers have. It really does require patience. I also spent time with the double cluster last night and did a rough sketch. I think if the weather clears toward the end of the week I may set up in the backyard with the laptop and do a digital sketch at the eyepiece, purely digital to capture it. It would be the only object that night. David, your work is incredible as always! Love your image there. Me thinks I might make it my desktop if that is okay. It did get cold out there but no dew which is a good thing. Oh, the other success was I got the intelliscope to work its best out of every time I used it. Funny how finally reading the manual for tips really does work. I star hopped to most things until toward the end of my night when I get tired. I find that is when I use it the most though I have been verifying with a star hop anyway. Joe, your image looked okay when I looked at it early this a.m. after I was tearing down. Can you use it at all? I wanted to get in a short session tonight but I got home and unloaded and cleaned off the dust and then went to bed til 11:30a.m. Got up, did some stuff and did my grading then fell asleep around 4:00p.m. and just got up. So I'll stay in tonight but I am going to head to a nice quiet stop locally that I use tomorrow for a session from around 8:30p.m. to 12:00a.m. and then home and in bed by 12:30a.m. to 12:40a.m. I need the night to sleep. Joe: No one said you weren't interesting company. I hope to have your patience some day. I do admire the time and energy you guys put into your efforts. Bill and I had a great night with visual astronomy. Sounded like Jay did also. Don't forget to look up every now and then when the computer is giving you fits. It's beautiful. See you again soon, I'm sure. Steve

Hey Steve, thanks for joining us. I don't think anybody minded the dust because our telescopes were covered at the time. And as for your leaving, that didn't cause any sort of problem for me. I'm just sorry I wasn't interesting company. -- Joe

Dave: It turned out GREAT! Looks even better than it did on your laptop screen last night. I will apologize one more time for our leaving early last night. You imagers probably hate us visual guys who pull out early. I tried to keep the speed down but I'm afraid the road has turned to talc.
If we all meet up again, I will make a point to park downwind and closer to the road so we don't make such a fuss. I admire the work you guys do. Steve

Looked through Jay's 14" dob at Jupiter..could make out the round shape of storms within the storm bands, was amazing.
Here is the Gamma Cygni Nebula in Cygnus :)
