Last year I "staked out" the Wheeler Peak Overlook. That's where you will find me. I don't think it is open till later in the year though. I echo what Dale said if you want to feel right at home in a National Park then Great Basin is the place to be. I have never felt more welcome. I posted here in September how great everyone was. I'll be back more than once this year for sure. I know I'm repeating myself, but both Steve F. and I share good sentiments about the skies and the way Kelly went out of his way to accommodate us. Looking forward to going back there soon.

Kelly, Thanks for the kind offer, and I will try to make it sometime this year. Best wishes, Joe

I also concur about the weather being too iffy for making such a long drive.
This summer we have a lot planned. Starting Memorial Day to Labor Day - we are going to have star programs every Wednesday and Saturday nights, as well as, every holiday weekend, including Pioneer Weekend.
Of course there is our 3-day astronomy festival July 28-30. Just check our astronomy page at www.nps.gov/grba for more scheduling details.
If you ever just want to come out - email or call - I'd love to observe with you.
I hope to see you soon.
Best and clear skies!
Kelly
