My recollection of a layman's understanding of inflation is that one of the possibilities that it implies is that there can be an infinite number of "universes," all presumably a result of multiple singularities. I am found of the idea that what we consider the "universe" is but a small part of the "real" universe. That the singularity referred to in the "Big Bang" has occurred multiple times, our "universe" is simply one of many. And No, I have little science to back that notion, other than it has not been figured out yet. Erik
