I had a good night as well. My wife and I went to the OAS party at Kent's Market in Roy and had decent views of several Messier objects (Good for the middle of a supermarket parking lot) and of course Saturn, Jupiter and the Moon. I saw a meteor streak down with an orange glow and break up at the end. To cap it all off was one of the most impressive auroral displays that I have seen. Simply amazing, bright reds and greens with white streaks that grew and shrunk as I watched. Tonight was what it is all about. I think it was repayment for all the bad weather karma that we have been accumulating. ~Jon

What a great night we had at SPOC tonight.
As if excellent views of the planets and several NGC objects weren't enough, we had a nice ISS pass, a -7(!) Iridium flare and capped it off with a very nice auoral display (that continues even as I type this).
No doubt we'll pay for this good fortune with 6 more weeks of bad weather...
Patrick :-)
