Doesn't part of the theme relate to The Tempest? I thought I read that somewhere ... Anyway, I enjoyed it except where the tiger gets zapped. -- Joe
I rented Forbidden Planet last year after a discussion on this newsgroup about old sci-fi films, and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The idea behind the story was not original (there are many variations on that theme), but I thought it was told very well, with enough new spins to make it interesting.

One of my earliest memories is of seeing Forbidden Planet - I was two years old when it was released. Dr. Morbius's invisible mind creature gave me nightmares for weeks. (What were my parents thinking???) It's still one of my favorites.
