Hi, I was there and am writing a blog about it. Actually, it was not the last solid rocket motor static test for ATK at Promontory. It was the last for the Space Shuttle program. But they will have one in September for the Aries I program. Yes, the Constellation (including Ares) was canceled. But they still have a contract to do another static test of Ares I and apparently it's less expensive for NASA to carry out the test than to pay the cost of breaking that contract. jb ________________________________ From: Daniel Holmes <danielh@holmesonics.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Fri, February 26, 2010 7:38:22 AM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Last Booster Rocket Firing on Thursday The traffic was backed up quite a ways. I was able to pull off the road just after the blockhouse came into view. I got my camera setup as they were counting down, and was able to start recording a few seconds into it. The snow made a nice contrast, it was much brighter to me in years past. Dan On Feb 26, 2010, at 7:20 AM, Craig Smith wrote:

This is the last firing of a booster rocket in Utah with only 4 more launches, more tests are not needed. The last rocket test is on:
Thursday, Feb. 25th, 2010 11:50a.m. ATK Space Systems Facility in Promontory UT.
I may take off work to attend this. Anyone else interested?
