Cool! I've been with a group for the last 35 years that plays a WWI airwar game using miniatures on stands. It's a pre-computer flight simulator. One of the designers used to consult for the Air Force. We met when he was in college and I was in jr. high. We'd game in the basement of a U of U Radiology professor on Saturday nights. The good doctor has long since retired and moved away (and interestingly gave up gaming in favor of astronomy, in retirement!). Since about 2002 we've been meeting at Hastur on Thursday nights, although with the death of one of the game designers in January of this year, we switched to every-other Thursday. I've been so busy at work this year that I've only made it 2 or 3 times since February, however. Bob has been known to game with us on occassion...when he and Roland aren't busy taking inventory on cards for eBay sales, that is... You should drop by one of these nights, bring the kids, we have several players who bring theirs. I believe the next game is scheduled for the 26th, 6:30 PM. We have all the WWI aircraft models and gaming supplies, you needn't bring a thing. It's old-school wargaming at it's best. Where do you think I got 'em? I brought her still in her carrier, Bob came rushing over and said "I've been waiting for you...here". Jen just rolled her eyes. He had just opened the new location, and well before he added comic books and LAN gaming. And now she wants the backpack for school.
I used to edit a lot of RPGs, which brought me around there quite often. Nowadays I do more painting of miniatures than gaming, and they don't stock the paints that I like. So I only get in there a few times a year.
