Not sure I like this thread title, hmmm..... Rob, the glow-in-the-dark tape does work, but I've found that its subtle glow is best for indicating where something is, that I'm already aware of. Non-astro types, such as the general public attending a star-party, need something more obvious. I"ve had my tripod kicked by such folks even immediately after pointing-out the presence of the tripod legs. So I'd say use the tape when with fellow astronomers, but use the LEDs when at a school or other public star party. The effect is also rather neat when several folks have them flashing. Sticks in the mind of the newbie. C. --- Rob Ratkowski <ratkwski@hawaii.rr.com> wrote:
Another alternative is "darkroom glow in the dark" tape. The glow lasts a few hours and is green and best of all, no batteries. Most large photo supply houses will have it, Calumet Photographic sells a roll 1"x 5yds. for $12.99 and that should do about 10 sets of legs. I also use reflective tape that reflects when light strikes it, also needs no batteries ............
