Darn! The latest from the Minor Planet Mail List has "the potential impact is moved from about 2008/01/30.45423 at 0.00001886 AU to about 2008/01/30.45932 at 0.00000670 AU (Mars radius = 0.00002268 AU)" I did enjoy (and agreed with) one other poster's message which read "I'm sure there is no small number of planetary scientists hoping for a hit, simply to get physical evidence to compare against all those theories about impacts."

You know it. One of my fondest astronomical memories is of being stunned at being able to see the impacts out front of the planetarium with one of those cheap department store refractors some kid brought to one of our Impact Watches. patrick
