This strikes me as kind of a big deal. It's one thing for a professionally-staffed automated research observatory to catch a supernova, it's quite another thing to have one spotted by amateurs who use much smaller telescopes and generally use very little automation. No small trick, yet amateurs accounted for about 1/5 of the 1096 supernovae discovered worldwide last year. Congratulations _are_ in order here!
