It's a family trait. Holmes was the first comet that I viewed through my own telescope. I was living in Denver and was with the Denver Astro club. I'd seen plenty of comets naked eye and in binos, but it was the first I'd seen with my own equipment. I thought something was wrong with it too, because it looked so different.
