I just spoke to Joe Bauman who is at the Wedge. He said he was facing away from it and it was so bright he thought a car was driving up with headlights on. He saw many pieces falling but heard no sound over the clatter of his generator.
I saw that too - I was sitting in my front room (facing east), working on my laptop and saw several bright flashes that lit up the outside of the house and yard. My first thought was that it may have been a bolide. I didn't see the source of the light. But then I convinced myself that it must have been my neighbor's car headlights. The aftermath shown in the picture accompanying this article: http://www.sltrib.com/ci_13814412 looks very similar to a circular cloud trail I saw to the west over the Oquirrhs yesterday afternoon at about 1:00. Did anyone else see that? Any idea what caused it? -- Michael W Thelen To have doubted one's own first principles is the mark of a civilized man. -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
