It's such a grand image. And there's another edge-on just to the upper left of the stream of stars and gas and gunk resulting from the near-collision. -- Joe ________________________________ From: Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wed, May 5, 2010 10:33:15 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Woops I forgot to add a subject line - M51 Luminance Image from last night Great detail Tyler. Hi all.
I finally got another opportunity to image last night and decided to collect luminance data all night on M51, the Whirlpool galaxy. I managed to get 80 frames of 300 seconds each, for a total of 400 minutes. The seeing was pretty good for Utah, and I managed to get some really nice detail for such a small instrument (AP130 EDF at F/6). Take a look at this link.
