you saw a moonbow, something that I have seen a few times and I even have a photo of one on the gallery page. http://gallery.utahastronomy.com/main.php?g2_itemId=5857 You did get an unexpected surprise and are among a small group that has seen this night time vision. Did you photograph it??, capturing the colors is luck but it does happen.
