Venus' size surprised me too. Much bigger than I thought it would be. In fact, when the Sun first broke free of the clouds I was still westbound on I-80 and not wanting to stop I pulled out my welder's glass and glanced through it and was surprised at how easy Venus was to see. Funny but I came up on a car that had pulled off on the shoulder. When I went by the driver was using binoculars to look at the Sun through his windshield. Then when I stopped at exit 77 and started setting up a number of other cars stopped too. patrick On 05 Jun 2012, at 23:07, Siegfried Jachmann wrote:
My view also. We had just over 35 minutes of viewing until the Sun set into low clouds. I also expected Venus to be smaller, probably for the same reason.
The view was also better through a glass filter than through the solar glasses. I ended up giving away 80-90 pair.
