[Utah-astronomy] Thanks Siegfried! Also, was it really total?

Many thanks to Siegfried for suggesting an eclipse watch at SPOC tis morning. I showed up thinking few would be there but was pleasantly surprised to see a bunch of people and telescopes there. Even several families with little kids from the local area. Cold but very clear. Great views of the eclipse. But was it total? Siegfried noted there was some debate in the science community about whether it would be total or just very nearly so. I find myself in the latter camp. Definitely very close but at no time did I see all of the white go away. Still is was a nice site and a taste of what's to come in September where a "for sure" very deep total will grace our evening skies. patrick
