Once again, way too many Daves in this world...Chuck, I'm not sure if this was in response to my comments regarding the stereograms and such but, if it is, let me say that it is I who is honored to scrimmage back and forth with you...banter and all. And if you consider yourself Old School, I'd have to consider myself a Dropout 'cuz I ain't anywhere close to New School. That would be Deb Whitaker and her database of a mind. She and other energetic stargazers like her are 'Today' if you will. Keep on dancin'...from one who is just learning how. Regards, Dave (Bennett) P.S. Great review of the William Optics Star Diagonal in the latest Nova. That's the one I'd go with too if I was in the market. P.P.S. I'd love to see the Skalnate Pleso...I'd have one myself if Tirion hadn't come along. On Monday, March 22, 2004, at 10:15 PM, Chuck Hards wrote:
Dave, thank YOU for always engaging me. I'm honored just to scrimmage with you. I'm Yesterday, someone too long removed from the academic side of astronomy to be sharp enough to really stay on top of it. I tell folks now that my hardware is "cutting edge" - for 1977! Same with the bulk of my 'knowledge' Im afraid. But it's kind of you to dance I must say. I still have my first "real" star atlas, epoch 1950! And when I got it, it was still closer to 1950 than 2000 and the only real thing in town besides Nortons that I knew of. (Yes, the rumors are true, I have a laminated Skalnate Pleso, laminated myself on the Granite District laminator decades ago, and I believe to be the FIRST laminated atlas EVER...). I'm just a Working Joe with a family and a mortgage and never enough time to relax at the eyepiece anymore. You are Today, and far more knowledgable than I. You and the other enthusiastic, energetic observers on this list. I love the observing reports, it sure takes me back to a galaxy long ago. Keep up the analyzing!
