Chuck, Lakeside is north of the observing site abbout 30 minutes. I am not sure where the fossil beds are, but there is alot of excavating at Lakeside for fill for the railroad causeway. Its probably there. To get there, follow the paved road north. You will reach a turn to the ringht accompanied by a sign stating that you should not continue onto Eagle Range Bombing Area. There is a dirt road (Very Good Condition) to the right of this sign. There is sometimes a sign saying that Lakeside is down that road, but is very small. Follow this road until you reach the lake. Lakeside isn't much of a town. I think there are only some concrete pads for trailers and very little more now. The excavation is southwest of here, but easily walked to from the town site. Maybe your friend can fill in some details here. Brent --- Chuck Hards <chuckhards@yahoo.com> wrote:
A fellow at work told me that he was at a vast fossilized coral bed near Lakeside yesterday. Brought back some nice specimens.
Anybody else familiar with this site? It's not far from the observing site.
Chuck
