I hope someone enjoys the [IC443] image.
Great shots as always. Please keep'em coming. In a recent journal article, IC443 was described as "two half-shells" of hydrogren gas. The two half-shells are due to a "ring of shocked molecular gas that sits at the join of the half-shells." Part of the remnant is being blown away by a nearby, but unrelated pulsar. "The pulsar wind nebula found by Chandra likely originates in G189.6+3.3 rather than in IC 443." http://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/cdsbib?2004AJ....127.2277L Your photo appears to nicely show the beginnings of dispersion of part of the remnant into the instellar medium (ISM). - Canopus56 __________________________________ Yahoo!
