Thanks Chuck, It is a newt. The secondary spider has very thin legs. The spikes only show up on bright stars - the stars in these shots are actually very small and dim - they just look big because the sensor is really small. David On 3/23/11 12:28 PM, Chuck Hards wrote:

Isn't your imaging OTA a Newt? I was surprised to see a lack of diffraction spikes.
