His name is Ellie? Quoting Joe Bauman <josephmbauman@yahoo.com>:
Cory and I saw the most amazing movie tonight, which I would recommend to all my fellow fans of alien life and landscapes: Werner Herzog's "Encounters at the End of the World." It's not sc-fi, but it sure looks like it sometimes. It is a wonderful documentary about life in Antarctica, much of it at McMurdo, but sometimes at isolated scientific camps. The most astonishing views were taken beneath the ice, where the "landscape" looks completely alien, with strange lifeforms, gullies in the dirt, towering cliffs of ice, icecicles and gritty formations hanging down from above. I have never seen anything like it. We were fortunate enough that when we saw it, one of the folks featured, a plumber, was present with his wife, and afterwards answered questions about the film and life in Antarctica. It's playing at the Broadway -- and if you go, give Ellie a dollar. He's the bearded fellow outside with a cello. -- Joe
