Was a fighter pilot, squeaked through academics at Annapolis, perhaps his admiral father pulled strings to keep him in the USNA. He does have intelligence but has promised deep cuts in spending (billions), seems improbable that NASA will escape these spending cuts. I'm pretty sure McCain has a grasp on most things space related. The
guy is a fighter pilot which requires a certain amount of intelligence. Of course he isn't a park ranger... His loss I suppose.
